Teresa--Receptionist

I grew up in Overland Park and am a KSU Wildcat. After raising children, I supported the dental practice for over 16 years. I currently work in schools with special needs children and fill in at the office when needed. I am married to Dr. Ken Nelkin and our kids are Ryan, Melissa and Cory. I’m very excited to become a first time grandmother this summer! In my spare time, I also enjoy golf, traveling to see family and reading.

Donna--Receptionist

I have lived in Kansas City my whole life, with the exception of 4 years spent in Wichita, KS. My husband Robert and I met when we were 11 and 12 years old. We played in an accordion band, took duet lessons and competed in many contests. After graduating, we married and had 3 sons, Rod, Jeff and Jeremy. Now, we have 5 grandchildren, Britney, Rachael, Matthew, Jonathan, and Madison.

I have worked in this office since 1993. My job is very rewarding, I have had the opportunity to watch children and families grow over the past 18 years here!

I have many hobbies including cooking, ceramics, plants, collecting dolls, decorating, but my favorite and most important role is being a grandmother. Talking, laughing and watching them grow are the highlight of my life.

Brandee--Business Assistant

I have worked in the office since 2006 and in dentistry for over 10 years. I have many roles in and out of the dental practice, but first I am a mother and wife. I am married to Dr. Brent Mayginnes and have 7 year old twins, Ava and Carter who always keep me on my toes. To add to the mix, we have 1 year old pups, Duffy and Dash.
I’m originally from Minneapolis, KS but have lived in the KC area for over 13 years. After high school I attended Kansas State University where I received my Bachelors in Life Science.

Spending time with family is what’s most important to me. I also enjoy scrapbooking, baking, sewing and traveling. I’m active in a mother of multiples group and occasionally teach Sunday school.

Ashlea--Registered Dental Hygienist

My name is Ashlea. I received my dental hygiene degree from Wichita State University. I began my career as a dental hygienist in 2005 but have been in the dental field since 1998. I am certified in Nitrous Oxide Sedation, CPR, and local anesthesia. I thoroughly enjoy working with my patients and making them feel comfortable with their dental experience.

I live in Shawnee with my husband, David, our daughter Adisyn, who was born in July 2010, and our Boston Terrier, Duke. I enjoy going to the lake, snow skiing, reading, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.

Julie--Registered Dental Hygienist

I have been practicing dental hygiene since 1996. After growing up in Smith Center, KS, I attended Kansas State University. I then attended the University of Nebraska earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene.

My husband Kyle and I have a 6 year old daughter, Adelyn, and a golden retriever named Sadie.

In my spare time I love spending time with my family and friends, volunteering at Adelyn’s school, sports, traveling and spending time outdoors.

Karen--Registered Dental Hygienist

I grew up in Atlantic, IA where I graduated from high school. I went to the University of Iowa and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. I have been an RDH for nearly 30 years! The best part of my job is developing a one-on-one relationship with each patient, getting to know them and their families, and treating their specific dental needs.

I am married to my husband Chris and we are raising 2 daughters. Our four legged friend is a black dog named Angus. For fun I enjoy scrapbooking, craft club and book club. I keep busy by being involved with my 2 daughters and their school and church activities.

Barb--Registered Dental Hygienist:

Hi, I’m Barb and have been practicing dental hygiene for 25 years; at this office for 10 years. I love my career and have worked in MO, KS, CO, and VT. My hope is to make your visit as stress free as possible, while providing the best possible care.

I have a daughter at K-State (go Wildcats) and a son at Shawnee Mission East. I will be getting married in 2012! I force myself to jog in the morning, enjoy walking in evening, and love to hike. I have climbed five 14,000' mountains so far and hope to add to that number each year.

Angela --Certified Dental Assistant

My name is Angela and I am Dr. Mayginnes and Dr. Nelkin’s dental assistant. I am the newest member of our dental team and enjoy getting to meet all our wonderful patients. I graduated from Penn Valley Community College in early 2011. But before pursuing the dental field, I attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and the University of Massachusetts in Boston earning my B.A. and M.A. in English.

I am originally from Springfield, IL and I moved to the KC area in 2010. I am married to my husband Robi and we have a 14 pound cat named Bob. I enjoy spending time with my family, watching movies, exercising, and surfing the internet.
I truly enjoy working in the dental field and I try to do my very best to make all of our patients comfortable in order to have a pleasant experience.
